FEC rules: Still not notable
The FEC has ruled on John Bambenek's complaint against Daily Kos. They rejected his reasoning. No one was surprised. Here is the Kos post.

Staring at the Web,
I'm lost in my reflection.
'Net narcissism.
My own little corner of self-worship.

these clear decisions will quash the cinematic dreams of gadflies like Bambenek who believe they can get their "day in court" to vindicate their personal fantasies of what the law is.
Hee hee.
Hey, I only advocate the election of Democrats. Does that mean I'm a violator as well, J.B.? Hey... does J.B. only advocate the election of neo-cons? Doesn't that mean he's a violator?
Public smackdowns like this are always so enjoyable.
I don't advocate the election of any neocon, on a blog or otherwise.
Try again.
David,
Based on a little I've seen over at Illinipundit, I get the impression that this complaint wasn't born out of any deep-seated conviction. I really do think this was made just to (a) tweak the sensitivies of liberals and (b) to get some attention.
I've been riding John pretty hard about it over at IP. I don't believe John really is a stupid guy so the only conclusion I can make is that it is purely an attention ploy on his part.
Unfortunately for John, he can't really defend his position. The complaint was so wrong in its allegations and totally without merit that if he defends his position, well he is stupid. If he admits he did it simply for the attention then he's almost certainly liable for Kos' legal expenses.

Uh huh. Okay.

I wonder if they'll sue.
David,
I don't think they can sue just because he's an idiot. I think his claim has to be ruled frivolous first. He keeps hinting at an appeal. He doesn't really have adequate grounds to be allowed to do it, only his own misunderstanding of the FEC's response to him. If he goes forward with his appeal I think it is very likely that his complaint will be ruled frivolous.
And he doesn't support any conservative candidates. He's so much of a weasel that he will advocate in support of issues, and attack any liberal/democratic candidate, but he does not by name support conservative candidates.
If you read his blog, which I can't really recommend other than to satisfy your morbid curiosity, he put up his defense of his action. It's pretty pathetic. If you respond to it in a manner he doesn't approve of, even if you're right, he will likely delete your comment, as he did mine.
